Tysons-based Cvent acquires online special-events firm

Tysons-based Cvent Inc., a major provider of meetings, events, and hospitality technology, has acquired Chicago-based Kapow, an online special-events platform.
Financial details on the transaction were not disclosed.

Kapow offers more than 10,000 special event venues and experiences that can be booked through its website.  Some of its events include dining in private rooms at restaurants; personalized fittings at stores; and private screenings of popular movies at theaters.

Kapow events can be purchased online with all logistical details organized in advance. Kapow customers include companies that use the website for sales-related events and employers organizing internal meetings to increase employee engagement.

Founded in 1999, Cvent has more than 2,700 employees worldwide.
