In 2022, Tyson is overseeing a rapid acceleration of LL Flooring, expecting to open between 20 and 25 new retail locations by the end of the year, in addition to the chain’s existing 431 stores. Previously known as Lumber Liquidators, LL Flooring moved its headquarters from Toano to Richmond in 2019. Tyson, who joined the company in 2018 as chief customer experience officer, was tapped as interim president and CEO in February 2020, and was appointed as permanent head in May 2020.
“Opening new stores is an important strategy that will help us both increase convenience and build awareness of the LL Flooring brand,” Tyson said during a May earnings call.
Previously, Tyson spent nine years at Advance Auto Parts in a variety of leadership roles, ending his tenure there as executive vice president of merchandising, marketing and supply chain. A graduate of City of London Polytechnic (now called London Guildhall University), Tyson also held senior positions at OfficeMax and Office Depot.
LL Flooring’s net sales for 2021 were about $1.15 billion, a 5% increase over 2020.
