Rogers oversees the firm’s Delaware statutory trust programs that help investors qualify for tax deferments under IRS Section 1031 by investing their capital gains on replacement properties.
Founded in 2012, Capital Square has raised more than $3 billion in equity. In recent years, the company has become an active developer of multifamily and mixed-use properties in the southeastern U.S., with nine current projects totaling approximately 1,700 apartment units in development at a cost of more than $600 million. In June, Capital Square broke ground on a luxury apartment tower in Raleigh, North Carolina’s Warehouse District; in July, the company started construction on a luxury apartment hotel in Charleston, South Carolina. Capital Square also is the largest developer in Richmond’s trendy Scott’s Addition neighborhood.
Capital Square has completed more than $6 billion in transaction volume since its inception. Since 2017, it has been on the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest growing privately held companies in the nation.
A graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, Oxford and Northeastern universities, Rogers has written and lectured widely on Section 1031 and other real estate, tax and securities topics.
