Eastright has spent his entire career at Bloomberg, the media company started in 1929 as The Bureau of National Affairs Inc. He started there in the late 1990s as a college intern studying political science at Amherst College and then worked for Bloomberg LP, focusing on energy and commodities markets. He later moved to Bloomberg New Energy Finance before shifting to Bloomberg Government.
In 2018, Eastright was named CEO of Bloomberg Industry Group, which comprises multiple “research solutions” products, including Bloomberg Law, Bloomberg Tax & Accounting and Bloomberg Government, to professionals across multiple sectors.
The Industry Group employs around 1,000 people in Washington, D.C., and Arlington — and it’s growing. In April, Eastright told the trade publication Technical.ly that he was looking to fill 200 positions in technology and engineering. “We’re aggressively hiring really across the patch,” Eastright said. “But engineering is a place where everybody is actively trying to hire right now.”
Away from work, Eastright is a member of the Smithsonian Institution’s Arts + Industries Building Working Group and has supported the campaign to build the 11th Street Bridge Park in Washington, D.C.
