McLean contractor wins $87M Navy contract

Published September 22, 2020 by Sydney Lake

The U.S. Navy awarded McLean-based defense contractor Alion Science and Technology Corp. an $87 million contract to provide special projects and operational training support, the company announced Monday.

Under the five-year Department of Defense Information Analysis Center multiple award contract, Alion will perform research, systems engineering, analysis, design, testing, prototyping, technology, validation and integration work to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division.

“Our experienced team of engineers and subject matter experts continue to provide exceptional, world-class training, bringing the latest innovations to enable the Navy to advance warfighter operational capabilities,” Katie Selbe, senior vice president and general manager of Alion’s Cyber Network Solutions Group, said in a statement. “It is imperative that technical solutions provide rapid and accurate mission support for our warfighters. Alion is dedicated to that mission.”

Under the contract, Alion will also provide unmanned vehicles, weapons systems and other resources to help warfighters compete in complex maritime and littoral environments.

Founded in 2002, Alion specializes in training, big data analytics and cybersecurity. The company has more than 55 offices in the U.S. and more than 25 research labs.
