Manufacturing: TERRENCE ‘TERRY’ HORAN
PRESIDENT and CEO, STIHL INC., VIRGINIA BEACH
Horan took the helm of Stihl Inc. in April, about six months after the Virginia Beach-based chainsaw and outdoor power equipment manufacturer announced that his predecessor, former Stihl Inc. President Bjoern Fischer, and the company’s top U.S. sales executive had both exited Stihl by mutual agreement with the company.
The largest subsidiary of the global Stihl Group, Stihl Inc. employs more than 3,000 U.S. workers, with more than 2,800 in Virginia. It supplies products for the U.S. and more than 100 markets worldwide.
In May, Stihl announced a new manufacturing partnership with Briggs & Stratton to launch a line of Stihl-branded zero-turn lawn mowers.
Horan has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Northern Illinois University and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. He is a trustee of the Hampton Roads Chamber.
