Lavoie began his career in real estate, locating sites and negotiating leases for clients across the mid-Atlantic region as a senior associate for global real estate advisory firm Staubach, now part of Jones Lang LaSalle. Lavoie now heads Cooley’s real estate practice group.

His clients include landlords and tenants involved in major lease transactions, data center leasing and development, and corporate headquarters projects.

Before joining Cooley, the Catholic University of America and Georgetown University Law Center graduate was a partner at Watt, Tieder, Hoffar & Fitzgerald. He is general counsel for the Northern Virginia Chamber of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks.

Cooley has more than 1,400 lawyers in 18 offices across the U.S., Asia and Europe. In March, the firm was recognized as the Best in Industry Law Firm by the Commercial Real Estate Brokerage Association of Greater Washington, D.C. Cooley previously won the award in 2018.
