Mengucci originally aspired to a career in music, but his father suggested he seek a more practical profession. He attended Clarkson University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science before earning an MBA from Syracuse University.

Mengucci became president and CEO of contractor CACI International in July 2019 after spending a decade as its chief operating officer and president of U.S. operations. He previously worked for Lockheed Martin, most recently as president of its information systems and global solutions civil segment, overseeing 13,000 workers. Prior to that, he was president of Lockheed’s $3.5 billion information systems and global solutions defense segment.

CACI is a Fortune 1000 professional services and information technology company with approximately 22,000 employees. It reported $6.2 billion in fiscal year 2022 revenue. In June, the company was awarded a seven-year contract with a $1.2 billion ceiling for software work on the U.S. Navy’s Naval Information Warfare Systems Command.

In August, a federal judge refused to dismiss a lawsuit filed by former Abu Ghraib inmates against CACI, which the plaintiffs accused of being complicit in torture at the Iraqi prison. CACI has tried to have the lawsuit dismissed more than 12 times.
