CareerGig buys Charlottesville SaaS company

Arlington-based CareerGig announced Wednesday it has acquired Charlottesville-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform Moonlighting.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
CareerGig is also an SaaS platform that matches freelance and contract workers with employers and offers an insurance marketplace for health, life and disability insurance. Users also have access to education and training opportunities, financial services and other benefits.
Founded in 2014 by Jeff Tennery, Ritesh Johar and Roy Slater, Moonlighting has a network of 850,000 freelance and small business users that will join CareerGig. Under the acquisition, the companies will operate under the CareerGig name.
Both companies use blockchain and artificial intelligence in their SaaS platforms.
