Agriculture 2023: WAYNE F. PRYOR
PRESIDENT, VIRGINIA FARM BUREAU FEDERATION, RICHMOND
Pryor was elected in November 2022 to his ninth two-year term as president of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation.
“Advocating for Virginia’s farmers is extremely important to me,” says Pryor, who has a hay and grain farm in Goochland County. “We make up a relatively small portion of the overall population, but we are providing products that people need nationwide, and all over the world.”
A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Pryor is a member of Virginia Agribusiness Council and the Virginia Cattlemen’s Association. He also serves as president of Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance, CEO of Virginia Farm Bureau Federation AgPAC, a nonpartisan political action committee, and board chair of the Virginia Foundation for Agriculture, Innovation and Rural Sustainability. Pryor also is president and chairman of the board for Jackson, Mississippi-based Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance.
WHAT MAKES ME HAPPIEST: I am a lifelong farmer, and I will never tire of watching the seasons change, working on my family’s farm and seeing it produce.
