Mason & Hanger, a Day & Zimmermann architecture and engineering, company, has named Benjamin A. Lilly president.

Lilly previously was vice president of international federal programs. During his career, he has traveled to 31 countries where he worked on and managed the A/E design for high-profile, mission-critical projects. He has managed A/E services for a combined portfolio of more than $4 billion in international construction projects for government clients.

Lilly started with the firm in 1994 as a junior civil engineer, and a series of promotions led him to become the department’s director. After doubling the size of the civil department, he was promoted to director of embassy programs in 2009.

Lilly graduated from Virginia Military Institute with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He is a past president of the Virginia Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).
