Virginia’s unemployment rate dips

Virginia’s seasonably adjusted unemployment rate fell 0.2 percentage point in November to 6.2 percent.

This marks the second month of consecutive decline in the unemployment rate and was 0.4 percentage point below the rate in November 2010.

The national unemployment rate fell 0.4 percentage point to 8.6 percent in November.

Virginia’s unadjusted rate decreased 0.3 percentage point to 5.7 percent, which was 0.8 percentage point below November 2010.

The number of Virginians receiving regular unemployment was 51,569 in November 2011, which was down from 54,123 in October 2011 and 60,262 in November 2010.
