Virginia.gov has created a mobile application to help Virginia students study for the Standards of Learning tests.

The game, “Pass the Past,” includes more than 350 questions based on eight SOL exams, including interactive maps, timelines and photographs of famous Virginians and historical landmarks.

The game allows students to select their level of difficulty and view correct answers during or after the test.

“Today’s students have grown up with technology and handheld mobile devices,” said Patricia Wright, Virginia superintendent of public instruction, said in a statement. “We’re pleased the first iPhone application on Virginia.gov is to help students learn.”

The application can be downloaded for free on iTunes for the iPhones, iPad and iPod.

Virginia Interactive developed the application. Virginia Interactive manages the Virginia government’s portal and develops eGovernment websites and services.
