Virginia to receive $24 million to improve health IT

Virginia will receive $24 million from the federal government to improve health information technology, Gov. Bob McDonnell announced Monday.
The Governor’s Health Information Technology Advisory Commission will lead the effort to improve health information exchange in the state under an $11.6 million grant from the federal government.
Virginia has also received $12.4 million to help physicians implement electronic health records in their practices. The Virginia Health Quality Center and the Center for Innovative Technologies will lead this effort.
