Virginia Business won three awards in the 2010 Editorial Excellence Awards sponsored by the Alliance of Area Business Publications.

The magazine picked up a second-place, silver award in commentary and two third-place, bronze awards for best body of work by a single writer and best use of photography/illustrations.

•  The Silver award for Best By-lined Commentary was for “Don’t Let Awards Cloud the Issue: Virginia Still Needs to Fix Transportation,” a column by Managing Editor Paula Squires that questioned how Virginia can remain a top business destination if it cannot fix its aging transportation system.

•  The Bronze award for Best Body of Work recognized four stories by contributing writer Heather B. Hayes.

•  The Bronze award for Best Use of Photography/Illustrations involved work overseen by Adrienne Reaves-Taylor, the magazine’s designer/production coordinator, including artwork by contributing artists Matt Brown and Kerry Talbott and contributing photographer Mark Rhodes.
