Virginia banks receive top honors in Bank Director magazine rating
- July 24, 2012
Two Virginia banks have received top rankings in Bank Director magazine’s annual scorecard of the country’s best performing publicly traded banks. The 2012 Bank Performance Scorecard ranked Mclean’s Capital One Financial Corp. as first among banks above $50 billion in assets while Blacksburg’s National Bankshares, Inc. ranked third among banks between $1 billion and $5 billion in assets. Rankings were based on 2011 results.
Overall asset quality on bank balance sheets improved in 2011, the report said, which helped reduce loan losses and increase earnings.
