- December 9, 2009
The company manufactures solution-dyed fibers for flooring, transportation and industrial fiber and textile markets.
“Universal Fibers’ remarkable success in Virginia is evidenced by their expansion in Washington County and shows yet again that Virginia is the premier business location in the United States,” said Gov. Timothy M. Kaine said in a statement. “I know the jobs and investment announced today will be a win for both the company and the community.”
The company is based in Washington County. The expansion, which is necessary to meet national and international demand, marks its second expansion in five years.
“Washington County, Virginia is our company headquarters so it only makes sense for this location to be our first choice for this exciting expansion,” Marc Ammen, CEO of Universal Fibers Inc., said in a statement. “Our work force here is skilled and has proven to be committed, hard-working and capable. This expansion will increase our capacity to help us meet customer demands.”
The projects will receive $300,000 from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to help Washington with the project, and $300,000 from the Tobacco Region Opportunity Funds.
