Unemployment increases across Virginia

Virginia’s unemployment rate rose to 7 percent in February, compared with 6.4 percent in January.
Still, the state fared better than the U.S., whose unemployment rate rose to 8.9 percent.
Arlington County still has the lowest unemployment rate at 4.4 percent, while Martinsville’s climbed to 20.2 percent - the highest in the state.
When looking at metropolitan areas, Danville reported the highest unemployment rate at 12.3 percent. Northern Virginia had the lowest rate at 5.2 percent.
