A fourth-quarter survey of Central Virginia CEOs shows continued optimism in the economy in coming months.
The Fourth Quarter 2010 CEO Economic Outlook Survey conducted by the University of Richmond and the Virginia Council of CEOs looked at the expectations of 70 business leaders about their prospects during the next six months. More than 70 percent of the respondents expect sales to rise and more than half believe employment will increase.
The results were virtually the same in the third quarter with one exception. A third of respondents expected their capital spending to increase in the fourth quarter survey, down from 46.7 percent in the third quarter.
The results were used to compile a CEO Economic Outlook Index , which stood at 92.27 in the fourth quarter, down slightly from 94.47 in the third quarter. The index stood at 81.33 in the second quarter.
