Summit on expanding export opportunities to feature national experts
- September 9, 2010
Two export experts are scheduled to speak during a statewide conference Monday on expanding export opportunities. Hosted by U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-Va.), the Virginia Summit on Export Opportunities will be held in Richmond at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke and Fred P. Hochberg, chairman and president of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, are scheduled to address attendees.
In 2009, Virginia businesses exported nearly $27 billion in goods and services, a volume that ranks the commonwealth as the 21st largest exporting state in the country. Exports directly and indirectly support an estimated 300,000 private-sector jobs in Virginia, according to the Virginia Economic Development Partnership.
