Virginia will receive $2.9 million in federal funds to promote residential energy-efficiency retrofits, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
Virginia will be part of a four-state partnership, which will retrofit at least 12,150 homes with energy-saving equipment by 2013. The program plans to retrofit 75,000 homes in the region by 2021.
The award is part of nearly $30 million being distributed to 12 states and territories.
