Prince William Health System has received state approval to build a $94 million, 60-bed hospital in the county’s Haymarket area.

The hospital will be built on a 40-acre site where the Heathcote Health Center is located near the intersection of Route 15 and I-66.

In addition to the services currently provided at Heathcote Health Center, which include emergency care, the hospital will have 60 private suites and provide medical and surgical services, intensive care, labor and delivery suites, and a newborn nursery. The hospital will employ about 400 workers when it is opens in 2015.

“Prince William Hospital has been committed to serving the health-care needs of the residents of western Prince William County, and they have been urging us for years to build them a hospital,” said Melissa L. Robson, president of Prince William Health System.

Prince William Health System is the parent organization of Prince William Hospital in Manassas. The health system is owned by Novant Health, an 11-hospital, nonprofit health system based in Winston-Salem, N.C.
