SRA International Inc. has opened a new office in Stafford County. The Fairfax-based technology and consulting company already has located about 10 employees in an office building in Aquia Towne Center, which officially opens to the community tomorrow.

At a time when other companies are cutting jobs and operations, SRA wanted to expand its presence in Stafford to better serve a government contract with Marine Corps Base Quantico, which occupies more than 30,000 acres in the county’s northern end.  “We have a prime contract with the Marine Corps that requires our presence,” says John Pross, SRA’s director of Marine Corps Programs.

In 2007, SRA landed a $33 million, 54-month contract that was the impetus behind moving a third of Pross’ staff closer to the Marine Corps base. “Looking to the future … we thought it would be a good idea to build out some office space. We intend to stay and grow the business here.”

Located about 25 miles south of the Washington Beltway off Interstate 95, Stafford is Virginia’s second-fastest growing county, behind Loudoun.
