Danville agreed to enter into a partnership with Pittsylvania County to develop an industrial park suitable for the manufacture of hybrid cars near the North

Carolina line. The city and county will take out bonds not to exceed $13 million to complete the project. County supervisors approved a $4.2 million bond for

the purchase of 1,000 to 1,500 acres of land for the site. (Danville Register & Bee)

The Danville-Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce received a five-star accreditation rating, the highest possible, from the United States Chamber of Commerce. Of

7,000 chambers in the U.S., 300 are accredited and only 44 have the five-star rating. (Danville Register & Bee)

The Danville Regional Foundation gave a $1 million grant to the Southside Business Technology Center to expand its services from Martinsville to Danville,

Pittsylvania County and Caswell County, N.C. The SBTC provides business consulting services to private firms, economic development agencies and nonprofits.

Premier Racing LLC will build a 20,000-square-foot facility on an 11-acre site west of Danville to build trucks for NASCAR’s Craftsman Truck Series and
