S&K Famous Brands files for bankruptcy
- February 9, 2009
Henrico County-based S&K Famous Brands filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday.
The company is seeking a $13 million line of credit to continue operating in bankruptcy.
The company, which runs more than 160 menswear stores throughout the mid-Atlantic region and the Carolinas, was founded in 1967 by Hip Siegel and Abe Kaminsky, who were brother-in-laws.
The company’s troubles include decreasing liquidity in the tight credit markets and a decline in consumer spending. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)
