Shenandoah Growers of Harrisonburg has completed its $3 million organic greenhouse to handle increased demand for living, organic herbs.
The greenhouse, certified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, adds 75,000 square feet of additional growing space. The company supplies fresh herbs to grocery stores around the U.S.
The company has added 31 new jobs in Rockingham County.
“Our expansion not only stimulates the local economy,” Timothy Heydon, president and CEO of Shenandoah Growers, said in a statement. “But more importantly, it delivers on our vision of sustainably growing and supplying living organic herbs to the consumer as a year-round solution of transforming the taste of food in a natural, healthy way.”
