SCC to hear Dominion rate hike request
- June 24, 2008
The State Corporation Commission will hold a public hearing today on Dominion Virginia Power’s 18 percent rate hike today in Richmond.
The utility says that the increased rate is needed to cover increased fuel costs. Under state law, the company cannot profit from the rate increase.
If approved, the average monthly residential bill would increase by $16.61 to $107.20 for 1,000 kilowatt-hours each month. The new rates would be effective July 1.
