SCC launches energy-saving education initiative
- July 28, 2010
In one of the hottest summers on record, Virginians’ electric bills are soaring. But how do your bills compare to your friends and neighbors?
Now Virginians can find out in an online program sponsored by the Virginia State Corporation Commission. The site, http://www.VirginiaEnergySense.org is th,e core of the SCC’s consumer education program to help people use less electricity.
The website includes tips and resources on lowering heating and cooling costs. It also allows users to track energy consumption, compare their usage with friends and neighbors and earn rewards from retailers for reducing consumption. The SCC partnered with Earth Aid to provide this tool.
The program is in line with the General Assembly’s goal to reduce electricity usage by 10 percent by 2022.
