SAIC acquires Spectrum San Diego
- January 6, 2010
McLean-based Science Applications International Corp. announced it has bought Spectrum San Diego, a security firm that specializes in X-ray scanning of cars and vans in normal traffic flow.
SAIC bought Spectrum’s CarScan product line, which scans cars and vans in normal traffic flow for weapons, drugs, currency and stowaways. Spectrum’s customers include the government, law enforcement and the military.
The technology is used at checkpoints at borders and at high-security government buildings.
Spectrum will be integrated into CarScan’s Security and Transportation Technology Business unit.
