Richmond’s Movieland named Top Project of the Year

Richmond’s Movieland was among 12 projects recognized tonight during an awards gala sponsored by the Greater Richmond Association for Commercial Real Estate. More than 200 people gathered at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden for the ninth annual awards event that honors outstanding projects in numerous categories in the Richmond metropolitan area.
Movieland at Boulevard Square, developed by Bow Tie Partners, was selected as the 2010 project of the year. The New York-based real estate and entertainment company renovated an 1887 structure and operates the movie theatre. Commonwealth Architects in Richmond served as the architect on the project, and CD Hall Cos. was the general contractor.

Best institutional or public project: Virginia Commonwealth University Molecular Medicine Research Building
Best interior project: Altria Client Services Headquarters Annex
Best mixed use project: Hilton Garden Inn/Miller & Rhoads
Best multi-family project: Mayton Transfer Lofts
Best office building: MeadWestvaco (MWV) headquarters
Best R&D, flex or industrial project: GRTC Transit System Corporate Headquarters and Administration Facility
Best recreational, entertainment or hotel project: Richmond CenterStage
Best renovated or historic rehabilitation project: The Power Plant at Rocketts Landing
Deal of the year, lease: Branch Banking & Trust Co at Riverfront Plaza
Deal of the year, sale: Culpepper Farms & Oaks at Gayton Apartments
