Remodeling contractor adds energy-efficiency solutions
- April 2, 2012
Richmond-based Windward General Contractors LLC, a residential remodeling and light commercial contractor, has purchased certain assets of The Cooler Attic LLC to enhance its energy-efficient home remodeling services.
The Cooler Attic, based in Midlothian, provides radiant barrier insulation and other residential energy-saving solutions.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“This acquisition strengthens Windward’s offering in providing a high level of comprehensive, energy-efficient remodeling solutions for homeowners,” Windward CEO Rob Slotnick said in a statement. “The world’s best energy savings are really right under your roof, and this is especially important for homeowners as energy prices continue to grow.”
The Cooler Attic’s industrial-grade foil insulation blocks 95 percent of the radiant heat that enters the attic, company officials said. On the hottest days, the foil reduces attic temperatures by more than 30 degrees, achieving increased comfort while saving energy costs. In general, homeowners can expect to save up to 25 percent on their annual energy costs, according to Windward.
