Now it’s time for ‘Cyber Monday’
- November 29, 2010
Many employees expect to accomplish some holiday shopping at work today, according to a survey by CareerBuilder.
Cyber Monday, a term used by the National Retail Federation for the Monday after Thanksgiving, is a busy day for online holiday shopping. According to CareerBuilder, 29 percent of workers say they have shopped online while at work.
Think it will be a quick purchase? Not likely. Of workers planning to shop online this year, 27 percent say they will spend one hour or more. About 13 percent say they will spend more than two hours.
Workers may want to delay their holiday shopping until after work, however. The survey found that about half of companies monitor employee email and Internet usage.
The study was conducted by Harris Interactive for CareerBuilder.com. The survey included 2,457 hiring managers and 3,125 U.S. workers.
