Medical school gets preliminary accreditation

The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke has received preliminary accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.
The school now can recruit students and begin operation. The school’s first class of 42 medical students will begin their studies in fall 2010. They would graduate in 2014.
The medical school is a partnership between Virginia Tech and Carilion Clinic. It will be housed in a 150,000 square foot education and research center that is now under construction.
