President Obama has nominated Timothy Heaphy, a partner with Richmond-based McGuireWoods LLP, to be United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia.
Heaphy, a former assistant U.S. Attorney in Virginia and the District of Columbia, was one of four nominees announced by the White House on Friday. The other three were in Nevada, Nebraska and Rhode Island.
Heaphy is a partner in McGuireWoods’ government investigations department working out of the firm’s Richmond and Charlottesville offices. His nomination must be approved by the Senate.
