Marriott plans to buy Greenbrier

Marriott Hotel Services Inc. plans to buy the historic Greenbrier Resort, according to the Washington Business Journal. The deal comes as the Greenbrier’s parent company, Greenbrier Hotel Corp., announced that it is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Marriott Hotel Services is a subsidiary of Marriott International Inc., based in Bethesda, Md. The Greenbrier, a five-diamond property that dates back to 1778, is located in White Sulpher Springs. W.Va. During its long history, the national historic landmark has welcomed numerous presidents and royalty. The deal is not expected to close until later in the year.
