Career mentor: “I have been very fortunate in both of my careers, nursing and practicing law, to have worked with some wonderful people, to whom I owe a great deal.  Of all the mentors I have had, Bunky Miller was probably the most patient.  When I first began practicing, I worked for Bunky — his harshest criticism ever, no matter how awful my work product, was, ‘Let’s think about this for a minute.’  Thank goodness I had the sense to listen to what came next.”

What advice would you give to new attorneys?
“Practicing law can be all-consuming.  Make sure to create a life for yourself away from the office.”

Please describe the legal services/pro bono projects you are working on.
“I have the honor of working with the Legal Information Network for Cancer (LINC).  I assist clients who have been denied benefits by their health insurers.  I also give presentations on insurance-related issues, such as mandated benefits for cancer treatment and insurance appeals.”

How did you become involved in this type of work?
“Phyllis Katz, one of my partners and a good friend and inspiration, is the co-founder of LINC.”
