Leaders of Prince William chambers recommend merger
- May 13, 2010
Two major business groups in Prince William County have taken another step toward a merger.
The boards of directors at the Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce today recommended that the groups combine to form a new organization, the Prince William Chamber of Commerce. The members of each chanber will vote on the merger on June 17.
“Merging would allow us to better focus our resources, giving members a unified voice to advocate for their business needs and promote the assets of Prince William.” Molly Grove, chairman of the Board of the Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber, said in a statement. “We envision a combined organization as the ‘go-to’ place where companies of all sizes and types will find key resources for business success.”
If the proposal is approved, the combined chamber could begin operation this summer.
Representatives from both groups have been discussing a merger since last year.
