Kathy W. Ivins, a well-known commercial real estate broker for Thalhimer in Richmond, died Thursday. She had struggled for months with cancer. One of the Richmond area’s first woman brokers, Ivins, 54,  joined Thalhimer in 1982 and through the years brokered some of the area’s biggest deals.

She was one of the founders of the Richmond chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women and won many industry awards. Ivins also ran marathons and was active with the Richmond SEAL physical training team. She was the wife of John Ivins, a lawyer with Hirschler Fleischer in Richmond, and the mother of two sons. Earlier this month, Ivins was among four women recognized by Virginia Business as one of the state’s top women in commercial real estate.  To read the story, go to: http://www.virginiabusiness.com/index.php/news/article/the-power-of-inspiration.
