Joint venture to create tobacco jobs in Danville

A new joint venture company will open a tobacco facility in Danville that will create 39 full-time and 150 seasonal jobs.
JTI Leaf Services will procure and process leaf tobacco at a 256,000-square-foot building on 56.7 acres of land in Danville. The site will serve as the company’s head office in addition to receiving, processing and storing tobacco.
JTI Leaf Services is a joint venture partnership involving Japan Tobacco International, Hail & Cotton and J.E.B. International. The company will receive a $100,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund and up to $250,000 from the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission.
