Barden Gale has joined global real estate investment management firm J. E. Robert Cos. as its CEO.
The company announced that Joseph E. Robert Jr., the founder and chairman and CEO since 1981, will become executive chairman. Gale comes to the McLean-based firm from Starwood Capital Group where he served as vice chairman of real estate. Before that, he was the chief investment officer for real estate at ABP Investment US. Inc. — the investment arm of Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP — where he oversaw a global real estate portfolio.
Gale begins his new post in mid-July. “Barden is a top real estate executive whose experience through the various real estate cycles, combined with his international experience, makes him a tremendous asset to JER today and in the future,” Robert said in a statement.
Robert, a prominent Northern Virginia philanthropist, underwent brain surgery in February. He leads JER Commercial Debt Advisors LLC and JER investors Trust Inc.
