InMotion Hosting plans to hire 275 new employees at an expanded technical support center in Virginia Beach. The web hosting firm, based in Marina del Rey, Calif., will move into 18,000 square feet of space at Rosemont Interstate Building III as part of the expansion.
The company also plans to invest $250,000 in new business property equipment. It is eligible for a $100,000 grant from the Virginia Beach Economic Development Incentive Program. InMotion also qualifies for a city business facility job tax credit and employee training assistance from the state.
Warren D. Harris, Virginia Beach director of economic development, said in a statement that the company also considered locations in Texas, Colorado and Nevada for the expansion. “They made the strategic business decision to grow in Virginia Beach because of our technically skilled work force, excellent telecommunications infrastructure and affordable business costs,” Harris said.
InMotion provides hosting services to more than 150,000 domains, with a focus on small and medium-size businesses. It established operations in Virginia Beach in 2004 with one employee. Since then, the facility’s staff has grown to 85 workers.
The new hires are expected to occur over the next 36 months, with an average starting wage of $30,000 (excluding benefits and profit sharing). Positions will include technical support, sales, support mangers and supervisors, trainers, web designers and manager of sales.
