More shoppers are planning to take advantage of Black Friday bargains, according to the National Retail Federation.
The NRF predicts that 138 million people plan to shop on the Black Friday and the weekend following. That’s up 3 percent from those who planned to shop last year.
About 60 million of those definitely plan to head to the stores, while 78 million are waiting to see if the bargains are good enough.
In a separate holiday survey, NRF found the average American will spend $688.87 on holiday related shopping, compared to $681.83 last year. About 61.7 percent of shoppers say the weak economy will affect their holiday spending this year, down from 65.3 percent last year.
