Harris growing cyber-security operation, creating 100 new jobs
- July 29, 2010
Harris Corp. is planning to expand its cyber-security business, creating 100 high-tech jobs in Virginia.
Most of these jobs will be located in the company’s Harrisonburg location.
The expansion of Harris’ Cyber Integrated Solution business will provide customers with secure infrastructure, managed security and applications.
The company currently has more than 1,900 employees in Virginia, mostly located in Lynchburg and the northern part of the state.
Harris chose Virginia because of its proximity to federal government customers, the local work force and incentives.
“Virginia’s economic incentives and business climate allow Harris to make this kind of substantial long term investment with confidence,” Dale Meyerrose, vice president and general manager, Harris Cyber Integrated Solutions, said in a statement. “This project will add jobs in the state of Virginia and add value for our customers while improving their cyber capabilities.”
Harris will receive a large sales tax exemption for equipment and assets through the Virginia Retail Sales and Use Tax bill.
Harris is headquartered in Melbourne, Fla., and has more than 15,000 employees.
