Herndon-based GeoEye Inc. has signed a multimillion-dollar agreement with its Russian partner, ScanEx Research and Development Center, to provide more than 50 million square kilometers of high-resolution commercial satellite imagery for customers in Russia and neighboring countries.

GeoEye will deliver imagery from its archive and collect new imagery through 2012.

This new agreement expands the 2010 deal in which GeoEye provided ScanEx more than 2 million square kilometers of imagery. GeoEye officials said the agreement underscores the increasing international demand for high-resolution satellite imagery and services.
