General Dynamics to acquire Earl Industries division
- June 29, 2012
Defense contractor General Dynamics has entered an agreement to purchase the Ship Repair and Coatings Division of Earl Industries.
Terms were not disclosed for the contract, which is scheduled to close this summer. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions.
Earl Industries has about 575 workers in Norfolk and Mayport, Fla., where it supports the U.S. Navy fleet.
The acquisition will extend General Dyanmics’ reach at two East Coast naval ports.
The Ship Repair and Coatings Division of Earl Industries will become part of the shipbuilding, maintenance and repair operations of San Diego-based General Dynamics NASSCO, a leading provider of ships to the Navy and a major producer of Jones Act commercial vessels.
