Former Qimonda site to become data center
- April 8, 2010
Quality Technology Services of George will spend $100 million over the next three years to turn Qimonda’s former semiconductor plant in Henrico County into a data center.
QTS plans to launch a new Government Services Group at the site that will provide products and services for government customers.
QTS has 12 locations in the U.S. and provides data center facilities and information technology and hosting services for businesses.
Qimonda vacated the Henrico County plant after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last year. The site employed 2,500 employees at its peak, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Between 25 and 40 workers will work at the QTS plant, which will lease out some of the space.
