Evatran has received a $1.25 million grant to help commercialize its “hands-free” electric charge capability for electric cars.
The Wytheville-based company competed with 13 other applicants for the grant through Wythe County’s Joint Industrial Development Authority. The grant was awarded by the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization.
Plugless Power allows drivers of electric cars to recharge by pulling up to a charging station, which would be located at homes, restaurants, or parking garages. Plugging in is not required.
Evatran is a subsidiary of MTC Transformers.
