Ellwood Thompson to move into Washington, D.C. market
- September 14, 2011
Ellwood Thompson, Richmond’s natural food grocer, plans to open a 15,000-square-foot store in Rockville Town Square in Montgomery County, Md., a suburb of Washington, D.C. Ellwood’s first Washington-area store will be called Dawson’s Market. It’s expected to open in spring 2012. The Rockville development, owned by Federal Realty Investment Trust, includes restaurants, shops and apartments. Ellwood also is expanding its 15,000 square-foot Richmond store in Carytown. It took over the space adjacent to its current location when Blockbuster departed. The additional 5,000 square feet will be used to house an expanded beer and wine department and the store’s café. The Richmond expansion should be ready by February 2012.
