- December 10, 2010
A drug research and clinical services firm will spend $28 million to expand its Lab Services Division in Henrico County, creating 190 new jobs over the next three years.
PPD Inc. is a contract research organization that provides drug discovery, development and lifecycle management services.
“PPD chose to expand at its Henrico County facility due to the quality of the current employees and the skilled work force available in the region,” Jim Cheng, Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade, said in a statement. “With this significant investment and new job creation, PPD ensures that its future business prospects are bright and further growth is likely.”
Gov. Bob McDonnell approved $150,000 from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to help Henrico with the project. McDonnell also approved a $500,000 performance-based grant from the Virginia Investment Partnership, which targets existing Virginia companies.
