Dominion Transmission signs deal with CONSOL
- June 14, 2010
Dominion Transmission has reached a 15-year agreement with the gas subsidiary of CONSOL Energy Inc. to transport CONSOL natural gas produced from Marcellus shale.
Marcellus shale is a type of sedimentary rock found in the Appalachia that contains natural gas reserves.
The Dominion Transmission project, capable of transporting 200,000 dekatherms per day, will move supplies from central and southwestern Pennsylvania to pipelines and storage facilities in Leidy, Pa.
Dominion Transmission is the natural gas transmission and storage subsidiary of Richmond-based Dominion Resources,
Dominion sold its natural gas exploration and production business to CONSOL earlier this year.
If the project is approved by federal regulators, construction would begin in March 2012, with service scheduled to start in November 2012.
